The Sales Engineer Job Estimating System is now a one-time free Excel file to all registered users. Those who contribute to the “HVAC SOS Forum” will receive free upgrades as they come available and will receive the SEJES version that includes a nearly 7,000-row inventory section.
When I was a sales engineer at Thayer Corporation I had 2-3 times the estimate/proposal rate of their other sales engineers. The reason for this fact is that I used my SEJES estimating system first, because it contained most of the materials I used routinely which saved me from the time-consuming data entry process every time a did a new estimate. Next, I entered the numbers output from my system into Thayer’s system so they would fall into the categories Thayer desired from their system. Even though I was using 2 systems, I still had double to triple the estimating productivity of anyone in the company, and I was the new guy!
This just proves how time consuming doing estimates (for free?) can really be. When Dan Thayer showed me how his company’s Excel-based estimating system worked, and I noticed there was not a single part or piece of equipment in it, I asked him, “Did you hire me to be a Sales Engineer or a data entry clerk?”
So, if you want to increase your productivity and would like to receive the latest and greatest version of SEJES with materials database, then won’t you consider sharing your thoughts on the HVAC SOS Forum?
